Capitol Butte

Capitol Butte, near Sedona, Arizona, is a challenging 2.8 mile out and back trail with an elevation gain of 1,700ft. This is not a maintained trail, and you have to make your way over large rocks and scree near the top. Wear pants and a long-sleeve shirt to protect against thorns and scratches, as most of the top section of the trail is overgrown. It is STRONGLY recommended you download a map and follow your GPS to stay on the trail. Numerous false trails can lead you astray, some near sheer cliffs or perilous drops. Take extra water, and be prepared for a long hike. While only 2.8 miles, this trail can take hours to complete. Dogs are not allowed on this trail.
