This mountain and this trail are no joke and should be taken and prepared for very seriously. This trail is not recommended for novices or anyone who hasn’t trained or isn’t in great shape. Numerous rescues and fatalities occur every year on this mountain, so please be prepared and try to go with one or more other people. After mile 8, the altitude is above 13,000ft (3,962 meters). Everyone attempting to summit should be very aware of the warning signs of high altitude sickness, and should be prepared to abandon a summit attempt and turn back if they start experiencing any of the signs.
This trail and this experience are exceptional. There is a sense of true accomplishment upon reaching the summit, along with a sense of gratitude that the mountain has allowed you to stand upon it and gaze into the distance.
